Miri: A Lion Dance Performance 美里:精彩舞狮表演

A lion dance performance by Miri Wushu Association was held in the heart of the city at the Gong Xi Bazaar (a festive marketplace held a week before Chinese New Year with numerous live performances nightly). The Lion dance on wooden poles was the biggest attraction that captivated hundreds of spectators' complete attention throughout the show.

The dynamic performers' acrobatic skills, creative stunts, cute gestures and swift movements, accompanied by the loud tempo of live instrument music of beating drums, gongs and clashing cymbals brought 'life' to the lions. It was a heart throbbing excitement seeing their energetic synchronization movements but had a heart stopping moment when they leaped from pole to poles and making a turn-around move!

A good performance is believed to bring good luck, prosperity and happiness. And of course, loud cheers of joy and thunderous applause from the spectators.
