Nightlife in Chiang Mai is an essential eleCtrifying Experience. There are numerous bars and pubs scattered in different places around the city and a whole stretch of them on both sides of Loi Kroh Road. It's SO much fUN exploring these night spots.
My favourite is Mandalay BaR. That's where I wanna be on a Saturday Night! (don't tell my dad!!) And if you're Gay, be there on a Thursday night - the official Gay night where pretty boys and cute boys Come out to play. Lady boys perform GREAT shows on Thursday night toO. (that's where i sometimes wanna be on a Thursday night)
However, it's a "Farang" (Thai term for white foreigner) MOST hated bar as they called it a "racist place" because they have to pay 300 baht entrance fee; even farang Thai PRs (permanent residents). All Asians get in for FREE!!
Mandalay Club is a super sized club with a multi-storey complex divided into 3 zones: Mandalay Bar, The Dark (a trance club on the 3th floor) and Scratching (for hip-hop lovers on the 3th floor, Opening hours:after midnight).
There are coyote shows or sexy girls dancing on the podiums or on your tables.
Don't be surprised when a girl dances on your table. Just hold on to your drinks!
You can bring your own bottle of Liquor and order mixers (ice and soft drinks) there. Pretty young Ladies will come around persuading you to buy their shoOters and cOcktails. It's hard to resist their charming smiles than not to buy from them.
Live bands perform till 12 midnight - thereafter the DJs play techno Loud music where you BoOgie the night away till 2am Non-Stop. (if you don't get enough, you have to go to other night spots. Mandalay closed at 2am sharp)
