Samoeng is a district of Chiang Mai province in Northern Thailand, best known for the country's largest strawberry production with a record of generating an income of 540 million baht (RM 56.7 million) of strawberry sales in 2011.
Samoeng district has 2,075 rai (820.4 acres) of strawberry fields, producing an average of 7263 tons of strawberries each year. The strawberry cultivation season normally begins in November and ends in April.
On the road with our Toyota Vios, from 10 km down the canal road to the large intersection, we turned left towards Hang Dong, then right heading to Samoeng on Highway road 1269, a wide, smooth- double lane-tar-paved road but roller-coastering up the forested hills and down later! Thanks God, my brother is such an experienced driver!
